Q: What is Iron Chef America…Tampa Style A: A fun
afternoon where 300 people will enjoy the samplings from 20 different Chefs. The
guests are your judges, all dishes must include the secret ingredient &
Iron Chefs battle for the coveted title, “Iron Chef America…Tampa Style.”
Q: How is All Children’s Hospital Tampa Guild Involved A:
Net Proceeds will directly fund the new All Children’s Hospital Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit in St. Petersburg.
The 315 million project is slated to open in 2009.
Q: What are the Rules A: The rules are similar to the
network show except NO PROS… just AMATEUR CHEFS who love to cook. Chefs may
create up to three dishes of appetizer, soup, main entrée, side dish or
dessert. Each dish must include the secret ingredient! The difference between our Iron Chef & the Food Network's national program is that you will not be timed & may work in the convenience of your own kitchen or on-site (frying, wok, sushi, salad prep, etc.)
Q: Cooking Styles & Recipes A:
All Chefs must declare a cooking style at time of registration. Remember
to be conscientious of guests with food allergies or those who may be sensitive
to hot & spicy foods. Every guest matters when it’s time to vote!

Q: Who Judges the Food A: The guests! Everyone is given
three colored stones (Blue-Best Overall, Orange-Best Use of Secret Ingredient & Green for Most Creative. ) Guests sample foods at each Chef Station &
vote! Prizes will be awarded to three winners!
With time
permitting, Iron Chefs & assistants may taste competitor’s gourmet
delights, however you may not participate in judging.
Q: Tampa Guild Cookbook A: Iron Chef Participants
automatically grant the ACH Tampa Guild permission to copy & reproduce recipe’s
submitted for the sole purpose of the Tampa Guild Cookbook. Recipes
will be compiled and sold at the fundraiser & throughout the year to
benefit All Children’s Hospital.
Chefs must submit three recipes by completing the online forms at: www.allchildrenstampa.org, click on chef information, click on chef recipe.
Q: Photography & Video A: Iron Chef Participants
automatically grant the ACH Tampa Guild permission to use photo and or video
taken at the event for publication or advertisement.
Q: How Do Chefs Feed Everyone & Who Pays for the Food A: Each Chef is a Sponsor by
donating time, talents & ingredients to feed 300 people.
The portion
of food is toothpick sample size & may be served directly to the guest’s
plastic plate (provided by host) or in a small condiment cup (Provided by
chef.) Example 1-boneless, skinless chicken breast can be cut into 9-toothpick
samples. Five whole chicken breasts will feed 90 people. (Approx. $1.00 per person) Chefs will be
notified if guest amount changes.
Q: Chefs & Assistant’s Attire A: Chefs will receive a white Chef
jacket & a Chef hat compliments of the ACH Tampa Guild. Please where dark slacks. Assistants may wear a white
shirt, dark slacks & apron of their choice.

Q: What Will the Tampa Guild Provide A: One-8 foot table, linens, and two metal
chafing pans with lids, hot water, 2-sterno, lighters, plastic plates, napkins,
cutlery, and chef jacket/hat & table/sponsor signage.
Metal
warming pans will be delivered by a Brandon
rental company to a convenient location in Tampa. Chefs or assistants may pick up pans
on Friday, March 23 or Saturday, March 24 (Location to be determined.) The
rental company will pick up cleaned pans from the A La Carte Event Pavilion.
Q: What Do the Chefs Provide A: Aside from the three dishes, Chefs
must bring serving utensils, condiment cups, salt & pepper, grated cheese,
guest spoons for soup or gumbo, towels, potholders, fryers, woks, cutting
board, etc. Chefs are required to bring a floor mat to cover the carpeted area
behind the table. Example: An office
chair mat will secure to the carpet & prevent slipping if a spill
occurs. Left over food may be taken home
or donated to the employees of the hospital. Please bring Tupperware or
baggies.

Chef, you will be acknowledged in our Cookbook/Program.
Iron Chefs must submit a Chef Bio

Q: Chef/Assistant Admission &
Guest Tickets A: Chefs may have 1-2
assistants. Chefs and assistants will receive complimentary admission to the
event.

Q: VIP
Reception A: Several weeks following the event,
Iron Chefs will be invited to attend a VIP Reception. Attendees will include
Sponsors, ACH Guild & Foundation. Stay tuned for more details.
Q: What Is The Secret Ingredient? A: After a Chef has submitted an online registration form, the secret ingredient along with a Chef booklet will be emailed .
After the theme ingredient has been revealed, no Iron Chef will
be permitted to change their cooking style.
The theme ingredient must be a
distinct part of every dish and essential to the overall flavor of the finished
dish! It is not a garnish or a hidden flavor. Points can be lost for example,
if no one can taste any apple in your “apple garlic onion casserole.” Sauces or
condiments made with the theme ingredient will count, but only if they are
essential to the complete taste of the entire dish.
